1. Purpose of the Extension

The GA4 Internal Traffic Filter Extension allows users to append the parameter:

tt=internal

to outgoing Google Analytics 4 (GA4) measurement requests on domains configured by the user.

The Extension operates using the browser’s declarative network request API and does not inject scripts into websites.

2. Data Collection and Processing

The Extension:

  • Does not collect or store browsing history
  • Does not collect personal data
  • Does not transmit browsing data to external servers
  • Does not log analytics payload contents
  • Does not access website content beyond detecting GA4 measurement requests

All user-defined settings (such as selected domains and exclusion rules) are stored locally within the user’s browser using the browser’s storage API.

No configuration data is transmitted to TrackFunnels or any third party.

3. Permissions Explained

The Extension requires the following permissions solely for its technical functionality:

Access to All Websites

Required to detect and modify outgoing Google Analytics 4 measurement requests on user-configured domains.

Declarative Network Request

Used to intercept and modify analytics requests without injecting scripts into web pages.

Storage

Used to store user preferences locally in the browser.

Tabs (Limited Interaction)

Used only when the user manually activates the Extension.

The Extension does not monitor general browsing activity.

4. Modification of Analytics Requests

The Extension modifies outgoing Google Analytics 4 measurement requests by appending a parameter (tt=internal) to the request URL.

It does not alter website content, capture form data, or collect any user-submitted information.

5. Analytics Provided by Chrome Web Store

Installation statistics and aggregated usage metrics of this Extension may be made available via the Google Chrome Web Store and analyzed through a separate Google Analytics 4 property.

These statistics are provided by Google and may include aggregated metrics such as installation counts, region distribution, and retention trends.

The Extension itself does not transmit browsing activity data.

Google acts as an independent data controller for such analytics data. For more information, please refer to:

https://policies.google.com/privacy

6. Data Retention

All Extension settings remain stored locally in the user’s browser until:

  • The Extension is uninstalled, or
  • The user clears browser storage manually

TrackFunnels does not maintain server-side logs related to Extension browsing activity.

7. Data Sharing

The Extension does not share personal data with third parties.

No user browsing data is sold, rented, or disclosed.

8. Legal Basis (For Users in the EU)

The Extension does not process personal data.

Where aggregated installation analytics are analyzed, processing is based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding product usage and improving functionality.
